Area Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.
Law enforcement state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.
The substance had been placed in the pattern of a swastika, they stated.
Officers then located numerous other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement state initial examinations suggest the substance was likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no clue as to its source; authorities are presently not aware of any physical harm in association with the occurrence," they added.
Local authorities announced they were working "to solve the mystery" and have appealed to the community for tips.
A senior official stated the vandalism left him stunned and required to be solved promptly.
"This act hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he posted on social media, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on residents of migrant background in 2020.
